Julie Brosselin and Ivo Ferreira are winemakers, located in the hills of Montpeyroux, countryside of Languedoc just 30 km away from the sea. Two confidential winemakers united in the name of love and created a new label together: les Cigales dans la Fourmilière (“the cicadas in the anthill”). The principle of les Cigales dans la Fourmilière is simple: organic viticulture, low yields, hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentations with natural yeasts, no additions or manipulations during vinification, elevage in large old barrels, no fining or filtration and bottling without sulfur under only a small dose of SO2 when necessary. The vineyards lean on the arid and stony foothills of Larzac, in the final extension of the Massif Central and the Puy de Dôme chain of volcanos. The large annual rainfall over the Larzac plateau and summer thunderstorms provide necessary water to refill numerous springs and groundwater, facilitating the vine growth during periods of drought. Their vineyards are real small wonders reflecting the Mediterranean terroir.
