A 12th-generation member of a traditional family in the area, his grandfather, father and himself were born in the same room as the vineyard. The Dejean family has not used chemicals in vines since the 1970s, and Alain now goes further producing his wines through biodynamic methods. In fact, he is using an unusual way of growing the vines, plowing his vineyards and refusing to use chemical fertilizers, always giving preference to natural fertilizers made from algae, volcanic lava and ash. Their lands are full of life, which is reflected in the vineyards and extremely healthy plants, the result of a work that respects the balance of nature. Beautifully located at the center of the most prestigious wine estate in the world – Château d’Yquem – no one would dream of a better terroir to produce wine. In addition, the average age of vines is around 75 years.
